In this brief article, we will explore the leading and most popular brands of prepackaged off the shelf chocolate syrup. While I generally prefer homemade chocolate syrup made from scratch over store bought chocolate syrup, many times I simply don't have the free time needed to whip up a batch. Also for things like ice cream topping, breakfast toppings, and various other quick and on the move applications, store bought chocolate syrup can be a saving grace, as it only takes seconds to smother your food with it, and then dive into it's sweet heavenly taste. What's also really cool, is that most of the chocolate syrup containers are microwave safe, which means if you want hot chocolate syrup drizzled over your ice cream or pancakes, it's only seconds away. This article won't be able to cover the hundreds of noteworthy chocolate syrup brands on the market today, however we will focus on the top three most purchased syrup brands.
The most famous chocolate syrup brand, is of course Hershey's chocolate syrup. I would also have to say that it is my favorite prepackaged brand, due to it's simple deliciousness. As many of you are already aware, Hershey's brand chocolate syrup is available for purchase in just about every grocery store across North America. The syrup has been around for decades, and is one of the staple products of the company. You can buy it in all different sizes, and in various different vessels. For example it comes in a glass bottle, a squeezable plastic bottle, a microwavable bottle, and in a can. What is also nice about Hershey's chocolate syrup, is that it is probably one of the only brands that is available in huge bulk canisters. You can get it in huge cans, which are ideal if you own a bakery. Hershey's also makes different types of chocolate syrup, such as chocolate syrup with calcium, sugar free chocolate syrup, and others.
The second most popular brand of chocolate syrup, is very likely to be Bosco chocolate syrup. The company is based out of the fine state of New Jersey, and has been making chocolate syrup since 1928. This chocolate syrup brand has gone global, with it being distributed across the United States, Canada, Western Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and the Middle East. Like Hershey's brand chocolate syrup, Bosco's is also available in both regular, and sugar free flavors. It usually comes in a plastic squeezable bottle, and has a logo of a flying rocket on the front. The syrup has a different taste than Hershey's, with it being a bit more malty. It's base ingredients are of course all natural cocoa powder and a malt extract. With regard to purchasing it, you'll likely find that it's rare to come across a store in the United States that doesn't stock it. You can also easily order it on the internet directly from Bosco, or at stores such as Amazon.
The third most popular chocolate syrup brand, is of course Nestle chocolate syrup, also known as Nesquik chocolate syrup. This product shares a common product theme with the world renown Nesquik chocolate cocoa powder that is used to make delicious cold and hot chocolate milk. You will also find that Nesquik chocolate syrup tastes very similar to it's sweetened cocoa powder counterpart. Like the other two brands mentioned, this product is available at just about every grocery store in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. In fact I think it has a wider distribution range than both Bosco and Hershey's chocolate syrup, however it's slightly less popular than the other two within North America, the main chocolate syrup market. The syrup comes in it's famous brown and yellow packaging, with the bunny rabbit character playing the central theme. You can buy it in both the sweetened and sugar free chocolate syrup varieties.
